Well, from what I know of the legalization process for immigrants, it appears to be almost a no win situation. The US Government seems to have set this process up in a way that makes it so difficult to become legal that I would imagine it would discourage immigrants from going through the proper channels. Waiting 10 years, all the while following the "rules", not being able to contribute to your family's income and being discriminated against is too much for most anyone to take. I doubt that many natural born citizens of the US would find it just if the tables were turned. And let's face it, somewhere, maybe in many places, the government turns the other cheek when it suits them and many hardworking, illegal immigrants earn their honest living as a result. I am sure I will respond to future blogs on this site as I have a close friend who battles the same issues.
